Community partnerships, awards and special recognitions
Over the past two years, Waterloo has partnered with several community organizations to bring expert knowledge to students about the importance of helping to preserve and conserve our environment.
READY
READY, Restoring the Environment and Developing Youth, has been a tremendous partner over the past two years. They have assisted fourth grade students in creating and planting a conservation landscape at Waterloo, planted trees with the fourth grade and Green Team students, and have provided expert instruction on the watershed.

greenewitgreeNEWit has helped Waterloo students develop a better understanding of energy conservation and protecting the planet. Through school-wide assemblies, STEM nights and Quick Home Energy Checks for our community, they have been an influential partner with Waterloo.

Howard county Government
In April 2015, all fourth grade students, in addition to Green Team students in third and fifth grades, planted 122 trees to help with reforestation, with the Students Branching Out Program.

Master gardeners
Master Gardeners have been present in many grade levels at Waterloo. They have shared their knowledge of birds, bats and spiders with students, and helped students to develop an appreciation of the world around them, through classroom visits.
